In the footsteps of the main team: UNICS-2 defeats the reigning champion!

After losing the first home match against Zenit-M with a score of 53:66, Andrey Kibenko's team worked on the mistakes and the next day in overtime snatched a strong–willed victory from the reigning champion of the VTB United Youth League - 86:84 OT!

By the middle of the 3rd quarter, UNICS-2 was losing by a double-digit difference (38:48), but managed to overtake the opponents and go into overtime thanks to Gunter's composure when executing penalties – 71:71. The white-greens opened an additional five minutes with a 7:0 spurt, but at the last minute Zenit-M took the lead (83:84). Nevertheless, accurate free throws by Tomashevsky and Gunter brought UNICS-2 victory over the champion – 86:84!

The best in the home team were Sergey POLSTYANOV (20 points + 6 assists + 5 rebounds + 3 steals + 1 blocked shot) and Anatoly GUNTER (21 points + 5 assists). Alexander KALASHNIKOV added 11 more points and 8 rebounds.

Andrey Kibenko's team will hold its final matches in 2022 on December 26 and 27 in Nizhny Novgorod.
