The juniors of UNICS got 3 wins in 5 matches of the preliminary round of the XXIII Championship of Russia among juniors under 19, the games of which were held on the floor of UTC Vasilevo.

On its court, the Kazan team led by Oliver POPOVIC consistently beat Universal CSP from the Tomsk region (80:66), Krasnodar Lokomotiv-Kuban-Junior (88:61) and SSHOR from Ryazan (88:39), taking 3rd place in Group G.

Last weekend, UNICS-Junior lost to TSK Ural from Ekaterinburg (82:87) and peers from Moscow Runa-Junior (47:81).

The most productive player of the opening match was forward Daniil DUBOVOY, who recorded 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Center Nikita PAVLOV scored a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Timur Khayreev brought 15 more points and 7 rebounds to the team.
Our guys significantly dominated under the basket, collecting 59 rebounds against 42 rebounds from the guests.

In the match with Lokomotiv-Kuban-DUBL, Timur KHAYREEV became the best in the white-green team, shooting 33 points into the opponents' basket and adding 13 rebounds to them. Daniil DUBOVOY collected a lineup of 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, guard Timur ALLAYAROV brought the team 13 points with 7 rebounds.

The key to a crushing victory over peers from Ryazan was the team play of our guys. Kazan gave 28 assists against 4 from the opponent, collected 15 rebounds more than the SSHOR Unity, and also stealed balls almost twice as often (19 to 10).

The next round of the Championship of the Youth Basketball League is scheduled for December 2023.
